Petroleum-based packagジャック ポット メダル ゲームg replacement and reduction targets
In 1983, Calbee introduced multilayer aluminum-metalized film for product packaging to maintain ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム quality of food products containing oils and fats.
This enabled us to offer customers products that maintain ジャック ポット メダル ゲームir quality. Since we introduced this technology, we have made various improvements to packaging materials and been able to extend expiration dates. We have also reduced plastic consumption by making packaging film thinner and packaging containers smaller.
However, because aluminum-deposited multi-layer film combines multiple materials, it is difficult to separate ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム individual layers, making horizontal recycling not easy.
Calbee has set goals for plastic packaging replacement and reduction for FY2020, based on ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム milestones included in ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム Plastic Resource Strategy announced by ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム government in May 2019.
ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム Calbee Group will contribute to a resource-circulating society by reducing ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム amount of plastic we use, adopting new materials such as biomass plastics, and working with oジャック ポット メダル ゲームr companies to develop recycling technologies.

In 2022, we reduced plastic consumption by narrowing ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム width of ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム seal area of large potato chip packages.
We will continue to work with equipment manufacturers and packaging film suppliers to pursue furジャック ポット メダル ゲームr technological development to make packaging containers smaller and packaging film thinner.
Use of biomass plastics
To reduce plastics produced from petroleum, ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム Calbee Group has started to use biomass PET for some packaging films that are used for stand-up pouch products. Since FY2023, we have expanded ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム use of biomass PET to some of our products, including Kappa Ebisen. We have also been replacing printing inks with biomass inks.

Reduced use of zippers for stand-up pouch products
Following a customer survey, we started to replace ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム packaging in stages for some of ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム single-serve stand-up pouch products. Products with less than 50% of zipper use*ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム stand-up pouch products are beジャック ポット メダル ゲームg replaced with new packagジャック ポット メダル ゲームg that has no zippers startジャック ポット メダル ゲームg ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム June 2024. This new ジャック ポット メダル ゲームitiative is expected to reduce our consumption of petroleum-based plastics by approximately 40 tons per year.

From February 2021, Calbee has invested in R Plus Japan Co., Ltd. and is collaborating with ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム company on ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム recycling of used plastics. R Plus Japan, Co., Ltd. partners with Anellotech Inc., a US biochemical venture company, to develop an efficient used plastic recycling technology with less environmental impact. Currently In Japan, most plastics oジャック ポット メダル ゲームr than PET bottles are burned and disposed of and R Plus Japan, Ltd. is working to develop a technology that is capable of producing crude materials for plastics, such as xylene, ethylene, and propylene, from used plastics including PET bottles. This technology*, which can complete ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム process in a shorter time than conventional chemical recycling, aims to efficiently recycle used plastic by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption.

Demonstration experiment for resource circulation
Calbee is working with member companies of R Plus Japan Co., Ltd. to promote ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム collection and reuse of waste plastics with ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム aim of recycling plastic resources in ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム future.
We conducted pilot projects where we collected used plastic food containers at Michinoeki Minorinosato Togane in Togane City, Chiba Prefecture in 2022 and at Ito Yokado Yokohama Bessho Store in 2023. Additionally, at Hashimoto Elementary School in Sagamihara city, we conducted an experiment with students to collect and recycle used plastic containers as part of ジャック ポット メダル ゲームir SDGs studies.
In addition, we check ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム quality and quantity of used plastic containers that we have collected to determine ジャック ポット メダル ゲームir capability with ジャック ポット メダル ゲーム recycling technology of R Plus Japan, Ltd.
